recording from VCR to PC? Hercules 3D Prophet

    Hi there,

I've just gotten a Hercules 3D Prophet All in Wounder card 8500, and I'm having trouble connecting it to the TV.
What I really want to do is connect is straight to my VCR and backup some old VHS tapes, I have a feeling that the problem with the TV might be the NTL conenction I have.

To connect the VCR to the PC i'm using a scart cable that splits into the Reg Yellow and White cables into the graphics card interface (a seperate plug in for the card) there is also an S-Video connection, but no S-Video output on my VCR.

Now I guess my (longwinded) question is : must i go through the tv or can i go straight to the VCR and has anyone linked it to their TV before with any success, can you gine me some pointers?

    cheers

PS. Sorry for using the word VCR so much.....

    You don't need the TV

    Connect video straight into PC,

Scart on video, yellow connector to the video in on the card, then there is a red connection that terminates in an audio in jack which you connect to line in on sound card ( or built in connector )

DID sell a kit with all the bits in it if you have problems.

    Hey there,

Thanks for getting back to me, unfortunately there is no matching connector for the yellow connecter on the card itself, there are matching connections though on the adaptor (i have attached some pics) but when I conenct these, the software cannot find a channel, I even had a tape playing in the machine at the time.

    Thanks again
    cheers

Your card doesn't have vivo ( video in video out ), I'm not sure if the DVI conncetor you have is bi-directional,

the card I have has the actual yellow connectors onthe card.

    Sorry
