You can't define the dimensions of an A4 page in pixels because it will depend on the dot pitch of your monitor (not sure if that's the correct term, for some reason I want to say DPI but that's for inkjet printers). Likewise, no matter how you have things laid out on your monitor, how that translates onto a page is determined by the dpi of the printer. Much better to specify lengths in milimeters or points and let the software you're using worry about how to interpret that for the screen.

it depends what the dpi (dots per inch) of your image is. Programs like photoshop allow you to set your image resolution in dpi and dpc (dots per centimetre) this will allow you to find the pixel width and depth you need.

the print resolution of MS paint is 84 dpi, an A4 sheet is 297mm x 210 mm You will have to do the maths your self mate.

    Cheers for that,

In Word ..... if i have a document and want to make a pic of that exact same page, arial font .... i dont need better quality ... just that quality !!

Does that make a difference ??

I know about DPI .... i know that an image resolution in Photoshop, if it goes over 72 then it wont impact on anyones monitor but it will improve for print (which can go to 320 or something)

I just want a ball park figure really ... is the answer still the same ??

Like he said. Depends on resolution. If you want to produce something that's A4 in size, and do it through something like Photoshop, you can set the print size, rather than pixel size, to A4 size.

If it's getting a picture in a web browser to fit on an A4 page, I don't know what it is, but see if you can scan an A4 document in 72 dpi resolution. 72 dpi is screen resolution, and that's how browsers display and print them.

Most printers intended for use in a personal/office rôle would print in the range of about 300dpi (generally considered low-quality, but often used for a "draft" mode) to around 600dpi (reasonably good quality for readable text, letters, etc). It's not uncommon for some draft modes to give a higher resolution in one dimension than another (say 300×600dpi).
Some high-quality laser-printers can work at upto 1200dpi.
Imagesetters used for professional-quality printing would offer at least 1000dpi, generally much more, and may well go beyond 4000dpi.
