is there much of a difference between the platinum and the nj series quality wise? i'm not too bothered with the platinum pro just for the wamma-bar. is the nj worth the extra few quid?

Yes, there is a big difference, the NJ Series are the highest quality mass-produced guitars BC Rich has to offer. Much better wood altogether, and overall better build quality. Not to mention that the only difference between Platinum and Platinum Pro is the Floyd Rose, whereas the new NJ's come with the Floyd Rose Speedloader Trem.

You're best off having a look at the guitars here and it'll tell you in detail about the different models.

there isn't a 7 string nj warlock on the bc rich site but there is one on
    http://www.netzmarkt.de/thomann/thoiw6_artikel-173728.html

do you know if it was discontinued or something?

No no, it's certainly not discontinued, they just don't have every option that's available on the website. Same way they've only got 2 colours on the site, red and blue.

what other colours does the 7 string nj warlock come in? i wouldn't mind if i had to get a black but i might prefer another colour. my squier is black so a change would be nice :)

Well it's usually Black, Red or Blue.
Personally, I'd stick to the Black myself, but the quilting on the NJ models looks very swish.

Of course, if you went with a Custom Shop guitar, you could have any colour you want. I'd love to get a green mockingbird like this, except in a 7-String variety. Although I'd imagine a custom built guitar is a fair bit out of your price range.

TBH, if you want something badly enough, get it. You only live once. Off to the bank with you and get a loan :)
