more shenangians with pc things today.

the current setup i have means the desktop is with about 5 metres of the router
the laptop is about 20 metres away

the desktop has a pci wireless card in it, which happens to be a pci to pcmica adapter

the range on my laptops wireless card is crap so i have taken the pcmcia card out of the adapter in the pc and connected it to the laptop.
so far so good , auto detected, works fine, excellent signal.

ive put the laptop pcmcia into the desktop and this is where the problem starts.
the dektop keeps recognising it as the original card, not the new one.

when i try to swich drivers it tells me the driver does not contain info about my card.

any ideas of this will work at all?
or how to go about forcing the pc to use drivers for the card.

    cards are

nortel e-mobility 802.11b which is now in the laptop
realtek 802.11b which is now in the desktop using the adpater that the nortel was originally in.

    thanks
