    Hey
Just wondering how other people are getting along with Ripwave..

So far Im finding it ok. The speed isnt mind-blowing but pretty good for someone like me who just came from a pretty slow 56k dialup.

As you can see from the attached screen grab picture, my signal is usually in the yellow. Is this normal? Does anyone have it constantly in the green?

What kinda download speeds are people getting?? - Im getting about 10 kps.. not lightning but ok..

One major issue Im having is the drops in signal. It will only lose touch for about 30 seconds but that is enough to terminate a dowload. Ive already failed in about 10 attempts to download Gunbound [http://gunbound.net/ file is about 100MB] mostly because Ripwave is unavailable for long enough that the download stops.

I cant recover these downloads even when I use Firefoxs download manager.. Ive tried other download managers before but was put way off by one which was plyed with spyware and messed up toolbars.

I live beside DCU but I dont think Im on the Ballymun IBB tower, which is for their Breeze package, rather Im getting it from somewhere up Beaumont/Santry direction ?? This is judging by their maps for Ripwave.. Would this be the case??

Also is the light supposed to be read or green on the modem?

    wawa

I'm pretty much the same as yourself. Same signal.
I was able to get downloads of 57Kb/s no probs last week of so. Able to sustain that speed without signal loss too. Gone to ****e in the past week though.....lucky to manage 10Kb/s. I'm waiting for the work to finish on the ballymun mate (BTS.150 i think) before I investigate with IBB. I'm only 850m away from mast.
Also, my ripewave thingy needs to be at a certain angle I find to get best reception. Someone also mentioned here to put a coin under it so it tilts at an angle to aid reception. Never tried this mind.

    Hi
    Regarding towers/transmitters or wotever
Im still not sure about which tower I would be on..
    see:

I live beside DCU so Im very close to the Ballymun mast.

But the Ballymun mast is listed in the Breeze list and the map is very different in the Ripwave list..

Im actually at the very edge of that map..

i had the usb ripvawe modem and i had download speeds of 57kps and it was great the speed was always 450kbps to 497kbps, but i had to change my modem to an ethernet one due to issues with XP Service pack 2 and my speeds are crap due to it being locked onto 3rock which is 19km away from me, where as rte is only 3km away from me, Im on the edge of Rte's outline and was getting full speeds.
