Hi there, I have a hp laptop xp pro P4 712MB RAM with an internal cd writer. I would like to create an image of my harddrive (40GB) on an external hard drive or external DVD rewriter, I guess the internal CD would be useless. Then in case off a hard drive problem just boot off a floppy or CD,copy the image on to a new drive and away I go. Any recommendations?

    Have a look at http://www.pikaone.com/en/products/index.htm

    I have a FlyCASE SILVER Slim 20 GB USB2
I plug it in once a day, it backs up any changes and I take it away with me.

Symantec Ghost would be a good option

Cheers, I have an old copy of Ghost but it doesn't seem to support newer drives.
BTW Mothman, does the pikaone copy everything on your computers disk? i.e. if your drive failed could you restore it without having to reintall OS and programs etc.
