Both have their advantages and charms. Has anyone been to either and where have you stayed? City centre location 3* plus if possible.

Barcelona, i haven't been to Prague but Marie Magnum in Barcelona is open 24/7...pubs and clubs.

I love Barcelona. I stayed in a four star hotel right beside Sants Station, the main train station in Barcelona. If you go down to Port Olympic, you can get food pretty cheap in the restaurants there. We got a Chinese 2 course meal for €20 for 2.

There's also an Irish pub beside La Gaudi and its called The Michael Collins, we always have lock-ins with the staff cause we've been there so many times they know us. :D

I never understand why people go to irish pubs while away on holidays.

I too would say barca. Its a really cool city...Dont bother staying in a hotel, get an apartment in the city centre, a hell of alot cheaper

We used to go to the Irish pub to see the GAA matches, the summer matches are usually the important matches like the semis so we always happened to be there when it was on

Prague by a long shot, only 60cents a pint(depends on where you go) what more could you want. And stay away from irish pubs as they are the dearest.Tiger bar in Prague for 6 pints cost me about five euro.Stayed in Ibis hotel about 5minutes ride on underground metro from/to city centre or about 10euro in a taxi.Well that was about 2years ago.Metro only few yards from Ibis hotel in prague.

Not sure when you went, we didnt find anywhere for 60cent a pint last July.
Best we found was the "Budvar" (or so they told us...) in our hostel which was 67cent - but nowhere else was that cheap.
Most others ranged from E1-1.60. Places with 60cent pints are possibly some of the quieter places?
If this is a lads weekend away I think its safe to assume these may not be budget backpackers and as such are looking for lively spots in which case they will not be getting 60cent pints where they are going.

That said, of course E1-1.60 is still cheap for drink.

Personally, having been to Prague twice, I liked it, but I think its a little overrated. Though maybe my visits were a little short to truely enjoy it.

But it does have a good nightlife so if thats what you're after it will suit.

Just be careful where you eat, because there are many restaurants chancing their arms with foreigners where you will pay €15-20 for your meal whereas if you research a little- i.e. just get a Lonely Planet guide book- you should be eating nicely for about €8-13, or less depending on what you have.

Never been to Barcelona so cant comment unfortunately.

A one and a half hour train ride from the main train station Sants Estacion is the universal theme park.....pretty much like DisneyLand its pretty cool, a good day out, cant remember the name of it, something ventura

Prague is a great place but Barcelona is really insane in terms of possibilites for drunken madness!

When I was there last Summer, we got into the city centre at 01:30, and they told us we were "a bit early"!

It was a Pizza restaurant opposite the hotel Ibis were my wife and I stayed.Just happened to go over one evening and got two main meals and betweens us we had 7 pints which worked out around 60cents but over all meal was 15euro which was great.

Was up in the square previous night and got a four course meal with a couple of pints which cost 50euro,it seemed to be like the Temple Bar of Dublin in Prague.Mad all the same were they have a different menu for eating outside than inside. Its cheaper to eat inside the same restaurant with same menu.Well it was in one we went to that night.

    .

Was in Prague in November - never paid more than €1 for a pint, and usually less. I'm sure it's possible to get ripped off if you want to though.
