Apart from the obvious Boston and NY try Savannah, Georgia, it has a wild St. Paddy's weekend so I suppose it would also be good all year round, bit of a minature New Orleans I am told, and with a name like clansman you will fit right in.

    Great possible destinations:
    Savannah, GA
    Atlanta, GA
    Panama City, FL
    Jacksonville, FL
    Tampa Bay, FL
    Raliegh, NC
    Charlotte, NC
    Myrtle Beach, SC
    Charleston, SC
    Washinton, DC
    New York, NY
    Boston, MA

Do any of these interest you?
I'm familiar with most or at least can steer you in the right direction.

Myrtle Beach is great but more of a 20's something playground. November should a fine time to visit because it's the end of tourist season.

well, since I am in my 20's something for another year or so, thats why I think it's a good time... plus, there were more of an older crowd when i was down there...

As for getting around, I would recommend renting a car... best way to travel, and you can go wherever you want, whenever you want... I always hire a car wherever I travel to... best way around!!! if you are coming over in November, stay towards the south... the weather will be warmer than up here in the northeast... stay south of DC.. in fact, Washington DC would be a great place to visit.... have fun!!

    Hey there clansman,

A friend of mine and myself, are travelling the east coast of America this summer as well. We are travelling in the month of june. I am currently researching the best way around as well.

I just recently found out about an Amtrak East Rail Pass which is available to people who are not american or canadian. The pass is valid for 15-30 days and in that time it is possible to get as many of the economy (coach) trains as you like. More info http://www.thetravelbureau.co.uk/ It might however be cheaper to just get train tickets from the amtrak website.

We like the idea of getting trains as we will get to see as much of America as possible. Also, there is no need to arrive at the train station 2hrs before it leaves unlike if we were to fly between the states.

    A.
