Hi guys. Im looking for some help upgrading a win98 se machine from onboard graphics to an agp card. i poped the card in and rebooted but win didn't find new hardware (im too used to xp!). i installed the necessary drivers from the installation cd, and rebooted. The pc is still using the onboard graphics. how can i tell it to ignore this and look at teh card?

    thanks in advance

Disable the onboard graphics in the BIOS.

When the PC is booting up, you'll usually see a message like "press DEL to enter setup".

Do that, there should be an option somewhere to enable/disable different onboard options, set Onboard VGA to disabled, and VGA boot to AGP, but mainly change the onboard graphics option.

Also remember to connect the monitor to the new card.

    Give some more details, like

    1. Make of PC
    2. Make of AGP card

Is the new card showing up in Device Manager/System/whatever win 98 calls it. You might need to set the card as the primary display in Display Settings. Why don't you get an extra monitor and have a nice extended desktop? :D

    MORE INFO NEEDED PLS.
    What's the PC / Motherboard / Chipset? Intel/VIA/SIS ???.
Maybe you need to load motherboard/agp driver?
May be a link on the MB to disable ob video or something.
Download CPUZ Here to check what you have and let us know.

Sorry for the delay in getting back. finally got the problem solved with a few settings and a little luck.

THEN i removed my modem (to find out the model number), replaced it and now i get no monitor output at all. I've swopped out video cards and changed monitor to no avail. I'm starting to pull out my hair with this pc
