    Hello all,
I was on another forum, and they where talking about a book for improving
sleeping. It cost quite a bit then someone said dont bother buying that book
    go to a sleep/wake doctor.

My sleep pattern is cat mostly because im out of work.
Hopefully will be getting work experience to get me up in the morning.
But would like to go to a sleep doctor.

Does anybody know if there are doctors like these in ireland.
And have you gone to one.
This is the main source of friction in my household.
And i dont want people thinking im a bum.

I feel a bit embarased going to a GP to ask but i will.
Just hoping for a bit of backup and this thread might help other people.

    Hi,
I too have a terrible sleep pattern. I don't have a job at the moment either. I'm apprentice carpenter and will be going back to it soon, I just had to sort out my website first  As you see, its 4.14am. I will be in bed within the next 30 minutes. I was just working on something there and I'm finished now. I would have loved to have been in bed by 12. But the same thing happens every night. I get distracted and stay up. I stay in bed till 1pm hopefully.

Unfortunately, regardless of what time I go to sleep at, I usually wake at about 10. It may take ages until I get back to sleep thus wasting the whole day.

Sleep is VERY important. Under 24 yr olds need 9/10 hours per night. Over 24's can do with 8 hours. Any less and you aren't healthy sleep wise. If you lack sleep, your appetite grows making you eat more, putting on more weight. You can't concentrate as well either.

There are herbal remedies and tablets to help. I may consider them as some nights I can't stop thinking about work I have to do and may stay awake for quite some time.

Also, it is essential to have warm hands/feet to get to sleep. Get a hot water bottle/bed socks (nice and warm) and enough blankets (duvets).

Do not rely on coffee or anything to keep you awake. If you need sleep, take it.

You are more likely to do well in an exam with a good nights sleep rather then studying till the late hours as you will lose memory of what you studied nights before if you lack sleep.

Let me know how the doctor goes though, if you find any:)

I discovered that a few days ago. I just would not fall asleep until I warmed my feet up...
