Was in Maplins today scouting for a case as I plan to sell on an old pc and wanna use the case i'm using for my own system. Anyways came accross this gorgeous modded case for €40, yes that's right, €40 sans PSU.

Still an extremelly good price for the kind of case you're getting. Picture is attatched.

Vents are nicely done and so are the windows - far better than you're going to do with a dremel BUT that said the front looks seriously naff... Not too bad for 40 I suppose but not something I'd use for a primary computer/LAN party PC

They have had those for over a year :D For around that price as well.

The front looks naff? I thought it looked sweet. The picture probably didn't show it too well but the front panels have a lovely blue glow about them. I won't actually be putting any components into the case untill the weekend tho, so ya can't see much in the pic. Also those aren't just grills the case fans comes with the case too... and there's lovely leds on the front too for temperature, i mean considering that you normally have to buy all that seperate it's not bad... not bad at all.

Well i've been in and out of the shop all year and it's the first time i've seen them. For that price anyways, they did have them before but they were like 80 euro or there abouts.

The reason i guess i put it in the bargains section too is because usually Maplins are extremelly expensive when it comes to pc stuff. Peats just down the road is usually alot cheaper. Well it is for me considering that a mate of mine in there gives me store discount all the time :-D

Lol seriously? Can i have it? It'd be dead handy for this new system i'll be selling. The usual make it look **** hot on the outside, cram below standard parts inside and sell it to some eejit in the buy and sell for €400 :P

Ive been using one of these for a year. nice big open case the only problem is that the Fans are really noisey. and the LED in the fans pierce yer feck eye if you look at em.

I bought one of these in Maplin for €40 back in November, really nice case and plenty of ventilation (the LEDS are bloody strong though!). Even the sales guy seemed surprised at the price at the time...

I bought a PSU from Maplin at the same time, it blew after 2 months. I brought it back and they've had it since - had to send it to the UK for testing (they lied at first saying they could test it on site ) and keep fobbing me off so I'm finished with that bunch. I'll not buy from there again on principal.

They seem to deal with Q-Tec PSUs alot... which have a reputation for being extremely dodgy, avoid avoid!!!

Overall Maplins are usually alot more expensive than other places tho and their stock of PC stuff is usually extremelly overpriced, even for an expensive store. Anyways I guess the moral of the story is, keep buying yer stuff from Peats, but run over to check with Maplins to compare prices, ya never know what deals you might find.

In saying that when I did buy the case yesterday I was looking for a blue cathode to put in the case and they had three kinds, all of which either needed a transformer to work via pus molex or were ones that expected you to solder on your own molex. Whilst these were cheap at €13 that's just bloody impractical. Ran over to peats and got a blue cathode for €9 that had a molex connection and what's more it was a straight through, so no need for a splitter (even tho I bought one just incase).

Yeah Q-Tec and Codegen PSUs should be avoided at all costs. Bad luck man, anything you buy tho from Peats or Komplett tho will do the job for years, system after system :-P

Same here, agree about the fans, they look cool but the noise is too much.
Personally i think the front is a heap of ****e.
It looks very tacky apart from that good case.
