Surely if they are marginally obese their pure level of fitness should cancel it out, the BMI doesnt count muscle into consideration

Aye. It treats 20 stone tubby, and 20 stone six pack the same. Also, if you're tall, and you're heavy due to muscle, your BMI is f*cked totally.

I read in the paper that the BMI is now predicting an assload of Europe as being overweight. To get your BMI, you get your height in metres and centimetres, square it and then divide it into your weight in kilograms. As far as memory recalls... under 20 is underweight and over 30 is overweight... is that correct?

BMI has no bearing whatsoever on professional athletes, simple as that.
It is only a rough guide for sedantary people.

It think it is the duality of the game. Offence is fit, Defense is big.
You need your blockers to weigh 320+ and your receivers to weigh 120!

Check out this top OL prospect - 6 foot 7½, 318 pounds, 4.86 in the 40 - needless to say, fat he is not. He actually looks like he will add bout 10-20 lbs

Or, based on the analysis, about 50-60:
Relies too much on natural ability, will get lazy and slide off blocks. People question his desire, and justifiably so, but he's just too talented not to take.

I've seen players throughout the years who are so used to dominating (on the collegiate level) and not working as hard as others to reach the next level - but either get a kick in the pants and produce in the next level, or they are just never heard from again after a couple of seasons or so. Courtney Brown comes to mind as a good, recent example.

Barring injury, this Alex Barron should last a good 10 years.

History has shown it's the guys who work the hardest achieve the most.

If Mr Barron relies on his talent he may find that he goes from being a big shark in a little pond to being a baby shark in the ocean of talent that is the NFL.
