    Des'ree: Life.

She should GET life for this,

    I'm afraid of the dark,
'specially when I'm in a park
    And there's no-one else around,
    Ooh, i get the shivers

    I don't want to see a ghost,
    it's a sight that I fear most
I'd rather have a piece of toast and
    watch the evening news

Life, oh life, oh life, oh life, doo,
doot doot dooo. Life, oh life, oh life,
    oh life, doo, doot dooo

Hmmm... my friend once had a whole rant built around this song. His theory was that the lyrics were some of the most insightful ever written and beneath its simplistic rhyme scheme were reflections on the state of modern living and the futile nature of religion in the face of man's inhumanity to man.

    Think about it.

    Yeah.

I especially like the way she rhymed ghost, most and toast, and then managed to entertain the element of social commentary through her reference to the evening news

    Doooo Dooo doo

    ...man's inhumanity to man...
Wow, it's like secondary school English class all over again.

My friend's theory of course was delivered with tongue firmly in cheek (Just in case anyone didn't pick up on that)

Yes, and Britney Spears "Hit me Baby one more Time" was in fact a woman's rights song giving out about wife-beaters

Britney is well known for her genius.
    Toxic - Environmental awareness
I am not a girl - Transsexual awareness
    I'm a slave 4U..the list goes on.

Any time i read / see anything about D'esree, i can't help but think of David Brent (the biggest D'esree fan out there)

Guy in interview: (sees a sign on the wall and reads it) "What is that?"
Brent: "Money don't make the world go round, i'm reaching out to a higher ground.."
Guy in interview: "That a philosopher?"
    Brent: "Yeah...... D'esree"

    Genius!! :D

    Mmmm, rib roast.

Des'ree was one of those rare things. A woman who in one light was hideously ugly, a sort of Ronaldinho with breasts, and in another a tempting minx.

Here is a very simple song by Leonard Cohen.

    Simple but beautiful.

    Dear Heather
    Please walk by me again
With a drink in your hand
    And your legs all white
    From the winter

    It's a few minutes long.

She has stated that the song is intentionally shite and pointless.

It was written to show a lighter side of her song writing. One that wasn't serious in any way, as people were starting to take her too seriously.

Not a fan of hers, but I saw her in an interview once talking about the song.

And those of you who take it too seriously just need to get a life..or a hobby...or a hug or something...

ah, so it was supposed to be 5hit.
