theres going to be a schools team in galway i think, should be interesting they are all shooting on 60's so they will probably have an edge. i'm not sure how paul is going to work it, probably best 5 score from schools verse best 5 scores from the colleges. should be intersting though.

there all on 60's

They're gonna kick our ass. The top five will be able to bang in 540-550 no problem

depends who they have they mightn't have their best there, but ya, they should have it in the bag. Also we'll be missing sinead and keith, and ciaran won't be either.

They should have to abide by the same rules as us to make it a fair contest. i.e. if they've shot over 400 on a 60 they should have to shot on the 40 face.

Have to agree with Span on that one. Our competition, our rules. If they want to shoot a 60cm face, go 2 a schools comp. Its not the North we're in.

And from what I heard its 2 schools teams, not one so if they're shooting 60cm, we could have our team coming 3rd, behind the 2 schools teams. I've been reliably informed that at least two of them can put in 540+ on the 60cm face. Another 2 - 4 can put in 520+. Thats not too shabby shooting.

i'll try to call paul tomorrow and see what the story is.
only have his work number so too late now

did a few quick calculations there, ye know me and numbers

At the 4 competitions this year, the top 5 uni scores have given totals of
    2636, 2599, 2557, 2647

There were 2 schols competitions before christmas, and the results for them are up one the schools webiste. their top 5 had totals of.
    2613, 2525

might be closer than we think, even with them on 60's. but i do agree, same rules should apply to everyone, even guests

I was talking to a few of the schools archers about that the other week and apparently, its very unusual to get all the good people to turn up at one schools shoot. I've heard that the schools around whatever school is hosting a competition tend to show up, but not many people pull a Fergal (ie get up at 4 in the morning to shoot - comiserations on the leg btw) and its hard to get an idea of their best scores.

Of course there's nothing to say they'll all turn up to Galway either...

They'll probably put in an "extra special effort" to turn up to GMIT as it will be a matter of pride to them to hammer the older college student shooters. Especially since this is the first time they're shooting with us, its my bet they'll be there in high numbers.

High numbers or not though, a good shooter is a good shooter no matter how old they are and should be on the same rules as the lot of us.

Easy guys... Dont get you're knickers in a twist (Yet !) I was talking to paul and I think two or more of the little guys are on advanced targets and so far word is they'll have a team of about ten shooters. It'll definitly be interesting to watch the fun ensue.........

Checked with Paul and there will be three (Niall included and kudos to the lad) on the advanced targets and eight in with the beginners tomorrow.

I hope Dermot brings a crud load of those little shiny badges cos we're gonna be parting with quite a few of them. ;)

i'm not sure how paul plans on running things but the schools guys are there as guests right? they can't win the team medals or get awards right.....
