Anybody have any experience of using this?

    http://www.yousendit.com

I've downloaded from mp3 blogs with this, but i've never uploaded any files with it. I want to send a 600mb file to a few people and this seems to be the way to do it. Up to 1GB files to unlimited people over seven days for free, and download is real fast!!
    too good to be true!!
anyone know what the catch is? how do these guys make money, theres not much advertising when you download from it, but it is of a nasty "update your clock" variety.
    cheers
    Redz

No catch really, although I *think* there's a limit on how often a file can be download, and how many days it stays up for.

But yeah, lots of mp3 blogs are using it. Great for uploading lengthy mixes too.

Nope it's pretty safe, unless summit has changed since I last used it.
Sadly though there is a limit.
Hosting only for 7 days although you are only allowed 25 DL's so it would prolly be used in 1 day. (I know, I know, it seems weird having a 7 day host limit, for 25 DL's, but that's the way it is)

600 MB, WOW you must have a seriously fast BB connection unless, I assume you mean 600 MB of material, uploaded in parts, right.

Anywho work away with it. :D

Have used it too. and as long as you're aware of the limits listed above, its been great.

i would recommend rarring it with winrar and break it up into 3 parts

i tried to upload 800mb once and left it all nite and it hung around 400mb, which isnt any good, had to start again

reason 2- in case there is a corruption winrar will repair it with checksums.

other than that someone can delete ur file after a single download, which is a pisser if u are sharing it with 25 people say.

7zip offers better compression than winrar. When you're uploading 600 megs, you need all the compression you can get. I heartily agree with the suggestion of breaking the file up though.

See the essential software sticky for a link to the 7zip homepage.

secure mode is also handy as you can upload and download stuff thru a secure network cough! UCD Cough! ;)

I'm sure a simple script can automatically upload your file after 7 days or 25 downloads.

    thanks for the tips folks!
i will deffo brake up the file at least into two parts, and then zip it!
its a bbc documentary series called "the power of nightmares" about neo conservatives, communism and terrorism and how governmennts attempt to control us. everybody should watch it, but especially anybody in america!
i'm gonna try it over the weekend.
    pm if your interested

yeah rapidshare has unlimited downloads and only the uploader has a link to delete it.. however you can only upload up to 30MB at a time and you can only download 30MB in one hour, then you have to wait another hour.. www.youshareit.com could be worth a look too but id say if you're only sharing with a few people, go for yousendit, and tell them not to press the delete link
