Ive been given an ACER TRAVELMATE 260 laptop from a guy in my job ...he whats me to see can i fix it ...heres the problem when you power up either through the battery or the ac cable ...i get the green LED coming on but nothing at all comes on the srceen "NOTHING" no power seems to be going to the srceen ...ive treid to use my external tft lcd panel from my desktop hopeing it was just the srceen by press "fn" and nothing ...ive took out the ram and put it back in first one 256mb then the both of the sticks and nothing...ive even tried using 3 different ac power cables and nada
....i noticed that the dvd-r is spining around at first and then stops after about 3 seconds...there is no noise coming from the harddrive at all.. so the bois doesnt even seem to be booting up as far as seaching for hardware ...no beep no nothing ...yet the battery light ..and the power light comes on ive put in my own spare 20gb hard-drive nothing and ive tried his 80gb harddrive in mine and its fine ....
so now im thinking is it the cpu "could it be fried or the motherboard fried any help here would be great ....he bought it 6 months ago in singapore ...he is from the philipines ...so sending it back could be iffy as he was just passing through singapore when he got it ....it would be a crying shame if this system was dead cos its got some nice hardware inside "even if it is dead" :(
    thanks again ...
P.S. wouldnt it have been nice if DEVORE gave NUKEM his laptop forum ...had to throw it in...

http://www.computersunlimited.ie/ ;) They'll give you a estimate on the repair for €40 or something like that.

    Love the plug DUB *LOL*

Sounds like your having fun. Could you reset the CMOS manually?
Click this to download the service manual
and another manual here-check voltages next yes/no?
