    Ok, heres the deal.

    today i bought the following:

    abit av8 socket 939 motherboard
    athlon 64 3200+
    maxtor 80gb hard drive

i set them up, using other components from my old computer, including a gigabyte 6800gt i bought a few weeks ago.

when i turn power on, everything boots up except the graphics card, it flashes on for a second when the power is turned off.
the graphics card worked fine on my old p4 2.6, and i just tried using my old radeon 9600 in the new motherboard.......no joy!
if somebody could please at least tell me whats wrong here it would be greatly apprecieated, as this is fuking killing me.

    thx in advance!

When you say everything boots up expect the card do you means you actually get windows running? Do you see the BIOS POST messages?

Something to check is whether you plugged in the extra power connector to the video card (one of those that fit the hard drives). A lot of the new cards need power there also.

Also what is the make and wattage of your power supply? Depending on your system the video card may not be getting enough power. Of course first try the suggestions of making sure the card is correctly seated and maybe try another card if you can.

    Make sure you have:

    1) CPU Fan connected to the Fan header labelled "CPU Fan" on the motherboard. Many new boards will not boot it there is no fan connected (to the correct header).

    2) Connected a known good power cable to the GFX card's power input.
