can't run safe mode in WinXP Home Edition

Hi All, just noticed this the other day when I went to start Windows in safe mode with the purpose of running driver cleaner. Selected start in safe mode from the options, gets as far as the WindowsXP display showing the Owner & Administrator Icons, either one clicked on results on a ok dialog being shown for all of 2 seconds, can't remember the precise message (in work at the moment), but along the lines of click ok to run in safe mode or something like that. If I don't click ok within about 2 seconds the machine resets and goes back to the opening boot screen, if I click ok, well the exact same thing happens, just takes a little longer.

Anyone seen this happen before, no idea what I installed that may have caused this or how long it's been going on.

    Cheers

    Damoken

Ìn case anyone is interested solved why I couldn't boot in Safe Mode. After trawling forums all over the place came up with one guys experience that looked pretty similar. By trial and error he narrowed it down to Nero Express which funnily enough I have (had) on my machine. Uninstalled it and restarted my machine, choose safe mode from the options menu and viola!, first time I've seen safe mode in God knows how long!! Don't know why I didn't get rid of it to be sooner tbh as the only time I used it to burn a dvd it screwed up royally, left the entire music pak out (only 360 mb worth of files), didn't really like the interface either which was not the most flexible in options. Been using DeepBurner which is free ever since and no complaints :). Anyone else come across this before or has anyone with Nero software on their machine tried booting up in Safe Mode recently? BTW I've WinXp with SP2.
