When it comes to message boards this is the best irish one but its no where near the best in the world, too much bannings for nothing offences and stuff like that.
I'd say its in the top 1000 message boards on the net

There was a site posted not so long ago and it was ranked 135 in a huge data base, obviously nothing official but havent seen it ranked anywhere else

For some reason, I decided to work it out recently:

If boards.ie was a UK message board, and proportionally successful, it would have 0.5 million members and 34.5 million posts

If boards.ie was a US message board, those figures increase to 2.5 million members and 172.5 million posts.

boards.ie may be small going by the web figures, but given it's target audience, boards.ie is HUGE. That's also taking into account that boards.ie doesn't have any mandatory signup to view, or mandatory payment to post.

I'd say thet last point is pretty major, I was lurking here for about two years before I signed up, and I know a lot of people who just read it the odd time too, I'd say there are tons more

That site big-boards.com lists forums on the net with the biggest post counts it doesnt really have anything to do with quality!

I think IMDB or Wikipedia are two of the best websites, in terms of what they provide people. Wikipedia has the potential to become great. Boards is one of the best Irish sites, if not the best.. but there's not a lot of competition in this country, but in terms of longevity, it's hard to maintain an active website for so long, which boards.ie has managed.

I agree IMDB and Wikipedia are my 2 favourite sites. I wish there was a music site that could compare to the IMDB. AMG's good, but I wish it had a message board for each artist like the IMDB has.
