normal = continouos bell-shaped distribution (e.g. think of heights of people in an infinite population)
binomial = discrete approximation to normal (e.g. probability of getting 1 'head' in 10 coin tosses)
poisson = distribution of rare events (roadkill, earthquakes, etc)
again, what exactly do you want to know? get a good basic stats book and/or talk to your classmates.
