Truly sickening to see what's going on there, it's blatant torture and has no place in any civilized society. Sadly it seems as if it will continue as no government has the courage to stand up to Bush.

Does anyone have any links to info on the program? What was the name of it?

http://www.channel4.com/torture/ covers the whole series of 4 programs, you can't download the programs though.

Society needs to draw a line in the sand and say torture is not acceptable. It should be seen as a constitutional thing, like the right to due process and the right not to be searched.

It is too easy in this atmosphere of terrorism, to say torture is generally not a good idea but if we manage to save 3000 lives then it is worth it. The people who are on the ground at the time shouldn't have the ability or the responsibility to decide if torture in this case is a good idea, just like a police officer in the states (or here afaik) cannot decide on a case by case basis if a criminal should have a lawyer or the right to not be searched without warrent.

Torture in a police state. There are a lot of "unaceptable" things going on over there.

That program was deeply disturbing. I can't imagine actually trying to do that to another human being

Stayed up to watch the repeat last night at 2.30am. What kind of person would authorise or subject a fellow human being to that kind of torture?

    Donald Rumsfeld perhaps?

It's considered ineffective as an interrogation tool (I am assuming that is why the prisoners were being tortured) because the subject will just say what the torturers want to hear, regardless of whether it is true or not.

It wasnt mentioned on that show, but this particular Gulf Stream jet has gone through Shannon Airport a number of times.

I have it recorded on DVD. Might trade a copy with people if they have a copy of something I want.
