Hey, Im looking for a B&B in Galway for the weekend, Im just wondering if anyone knows a good one. Whats the best place to stay, Salthill or The city? My head is wrecked looking on the internet, very little information on the B&B's advertised. I dont want to feel like Im in a family home.

    Hey there,

I spent last weekend in Galway, and I stayed in Satlhill.

It wasn't a B&B however, myself and 5 others rented an apartment. It cost €450 for three nights, so about €25 per person per night. If you want I could dig out the details, I do know the place was called Grattan House, just opposite the Warwick Hotel in Salthill, only about five minutes from Shop Street in Galway by taxi.

As you said you don't want to feel like you are in a family home, this might be a more suitable thing for you to do, if you have enough people going obviously.

As for where to stay, Salthill was a good option.

I stayed in a b&B above a pub last year,i think it was called the corrib inn its down beside the river & was 50 quid a night with the full irish, not at all like being in a family home more like a small hotel also has the advantage of being above a pub!!!

Cheers sean, its more of a "romantic getaway" but thats a good idea for future reference.

That sounds pretty ideal, I did a search for the Corrib Inn but couldnt find any. Are you sure that was the name? Was it a nicely decorated place?

Your best bet is all the B&B's on College Road - these are known to be the best in Galway city and you are just a stone throw from Eyre Square\shop St etc

    www.goldenpages.ie
Search B&B , College Rd, Galway

B&Bs can be quite expensive in Galway, try the travel lodge (www.travelodge.co.uk - about €69 a night, less if you book more in advance) or the Jurys inn (www.jurysdoyle.com) which is smack bang in the center.

Try the galway arms pub /hotel.
btw there are loads of b&bs on college road but i had a very bad experience in one of those plus they are more family house/b&baffairs

Try www.goforless.ie and click the beds tab.

It's a mix of hostels and b&bs in the galway section but it gives a good bit of info...

    (cheap too ;-)
