Just saw this at Creative's site . €28 isn't bad for a Muvo even if it's a refurb. Also free delivery.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS REFURBISHED PRODUCT MAY NOT CONTAIN ALL THE CONTENTS/SOFTWARE THAT WAS INCLUDED IN THE ORIGINAL, RETAIL PRODUCT. THE ITEM IS SOLD IN A BROWN BOX AND IS SUBJECT TO A LIMITED WARRANTY PERIOD OF SIX MONTHS ONLY.

I picked up one of these last week - came with quickstart instructions, the MP3 player itself and a CD (6 month warranty too), nothing else though, no battery or headphones or detailed instructions (Unless they are on CD).
Nice easy to use player though. Arrived 2 working days after ordering.

The power on/off buttons on those stop functioning VERY easily.
I was unfortunate to buy one of the 64MB ones about 2 weeks before the price came down. It hurt!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 562 ✭✭✭joebre

Bought one about 2 weeks ago.
    Wrote some mp3's from computer
Couldn't switch unit on. On/off button appears funny.
    Cannot reformat either.
Must send back and get replacement.
Pity, as it was bought as a present

Have you tried holding in the power button for 4 seconds or so to turn on?
Then, to turn off, hold in the power button for about 6 secounds.
I presume it's like that to stop accidentally turning on or off.

In my case, I did. I think the flaw with this mp3 player is that the need to hold in the on/off button for 4 seconds takes its toll pretty quick. I got only about 8 months out of my one .. and it cost me 169 euro!! Imagine how I felt when the price dropped :( I suppose 28 eurons for 8 months isn't bad. Less than 3 euros a month.

I got one when they first came out and had it up until before november last year. i left it in a pc in college (D'OH!) anywho, The power thing never was an issue. well, not after the firmware upgrade. the upgrade gets rid of an annoying error where the songs turn into screeches after the power goes near death, it also lengthens the battery life and enables .wma playback afaik. some other handy features too.
They are great players tbh. and for 28e you cant complain.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 166,026 ✭✭✭✭LegacyUser

Yeah, I remember that noise .. on the threadmill in a trance listening to it .. "SCREEEECH"

I must drag it out and see if I can apply the firmware upgrade .. but it already played .wma format ..

I ordered mine on Sunday and got it this morning. Comes with a software cd, manual and the player that's all. It doesn't come with an earphone. But it's great for €28.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 897 ✭✭✭oxygen_old

Just ordered mine. Nice bit of kit for €30. You could roughly buy about 15 of them for the price of an ipod. Wouldnt look as nice carrying around 15 muvos tho as 1 ipod. :D

Its a crying shame that the attachable radio will only work with the muvo tx and nx. Has anyone tried to use the radio with a plain ol muvo? It says its not supported but I can still clutch at straws.

Did you guys get headphones with the player?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,278 ✭✭✭kenmc

this is even *more* of a bargain considering on the UK site the same machine is 28 sterling!!!! :O

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 496 ✭✭hansov

Good one guys. Ordered it on Wednesday at lunchtime and I had it in Lucan 3 pm Thursday. The only thing I can see where it is refurbished is that there is a nick on the side of the battery cover. But it works and at 28 yoyos it is only about 9 yoyos dearer than a 128 USB key and it plays music!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,496 ✭✭✭quarryman

got mine yesterday. no earphones and its only USB 1.1 but hey, €28!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 620 ✭✭✭neonitrix

wow that is an amazing bargin!!

i know im pushing it here, but does anyone know if they do a (refurbished?) 256mb player for about €60??? had a look but nothing :(

why i say €60 is because im working on the assumption that if you double the capacity you can, more or less, expect to pay double the price!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 102 ✭✭ka

    Whoo!

Cheers for that! Think I might've ordered the last ones though!

    Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,694 ✭✭✭Dingatron

All gone now by the looks of it. :-(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,245 ✭✭✭✭Fanny Cradock

phew, glad i ordered mine last night!
hope they haven't over sold or anything like that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,958 ✭✭✭Fobia

I only saw this now....but they're out of stock, and I need an mp3 player.

I don't understand the headphone thing though, can you plug normal earphones into it or what? Otherwise it's kind of useless, no?

If they come back in stock I'm taking one of these things

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 147 ✭✭Dearg Doom

Got one of these today . I just pluged in h'phones from Sony w'man no problem at all.
But I'd say a decent set would really improve the overall sound.
A great little gadget though at a great price!

    http://ie.europe.creative.com/shop/product.asp?prod=787

    More in stock again!!!!

Bought some arrived promptly - excellent value - for €28 you cant go wrong!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,958 ✭✭✭Fobia

    Mine arrived today!

As with everyone else the only thing missing was the headphones.

Great news is; there are still some in stock, 28 euro for a 128meg mp3 player from a reputable place really can't be beaten.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,780 ✭✭✭pissed

Picked up one of these as well... great delivery... only two days, no headphones either but at that price excellent value :)

I got one of these a few weeks ago. The website said none in stock
but I called them and they dug one up for me. (The call center person
was surprised to hear from an Irish person as "Irish people normally
don't call but only use the web-site").

    Great for the price.

It did however take a bit of work to make it work with my mac and itunes.

For anyone else with a mac (and not willing to pay €99 for an iShuffle).
This player works as long as you only load .mp3 files and not AAC and
you get in (open a terminal window, navigate to /Volumes and ls -la)
and delete any of the ._ files or (.DS* .Trashes) directories (which
confuses the hell out of the Muvo on playback).

Basically only leave the .mp3 and Settings.dat file and you are fine.

    Aaron
