What year does everyone think was the best for producing music?

I think 1995- god it makes me feel old- ten years ago  , still hard to believe.

    My reason for 1995 is:

Mellon Collie by the Smashing Pumpkins was released
As was Tragic Kingdom by No Doubt
We also got the debuts from Alanis Morissette and Garbage.

I reckon i was a pretty good year for my favourite bands. :D

Music is timeless, I tend not to think of it in terms of years.

    Jeff Buckley - Grace (1994)
Muse - Origin of Symmetry (2001)
Berkeley - Hopes, Prayers and Bubblegum (2003)

PS - I had to look the release year for each of those up, because I generally dont associate my music with a 'year', and I would assume very few people do.

I think 1970-1989 were the best years in music. The worst were 1994-2001 or so.

yeah i know it wasn't Alanis's debut, her other 2 albums were pop, but it was her first album that saw her career took off, thats what i kinda meant. Same goes for No Doubt, they had 2 albums before Tragic Kingdom

1989 - 1990 was an incredible couple of years for extreme metal. Debuts from Morbid Angel, Obituary, Entombed, Autopsy, Paradise Lost and Darkthrone - all still classic albums! Spiritual Healing from Death and Harmony Corruption from Napalm Death; two excellent releases IMHO. And Judas Priest stunning everyone with Painkiller. Great times.....

1973 was a very memorable year for music

Pink Flloyd: Dark Side of the Moon
David Bowie :Ziggy Stardust, hunky dory, Aladin Sane
    Stevie Wonder; Innervisions, Talking book
The Rolling Stones:Goats head soup, (1972 just shy of the genius that is 'exile on main street'.
Roxy music: For your pleasure, stranded
    Al Green: Call me
Marvin Gaye: let's get it on
New york dolls: new york dolls
    The Eagles: desperado
Elton John: Goodbye yellow brick road
    Wings: Band on the run
    Steely Dan: Countdown to ecstasy
~Led Zeppelin: Houses of the holy
