Adding Hard Drive to Dell PC

    Would it be a good idea to add

    And would i need to buy the cables they mention underneath?

    nope, thats a bad idea.

    2400 doesnt have sata.
    get an ide / ata-100/133 hard drive

    im getting a 180gig for 75 off him tomorrow

    It's not that easy to add an extra drive to a 2400 - only has room in the cradle for 1 drive (open up and check inside yours) - another option might be to buy a HDD and put it in a USB enclosure

    You put the hard drive inside - connect to your USB port and you have an external disk.

    You will have to go into Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Disk Management to ensure the drive is recognised. After that each time you switch it on it appears under My Computer as a disk drive

    Have a Dell 2400 and the IDE cable just has a master(no slave) so you will need a new one one of those. Aslo as said they mounted the HDD vertically in some 2400's check because the cables wont reach(i know). I would just go USB.Fast and easy.
