The simple answer is no, you can't send txt messages.

The complicated answer is sort of.

Conventional txt messages, that you send to a mobile number, are sent through your service provider.

Bluetooth is a service that uses the phones technology, similar to infra-red, but without line-of-site. Bluetooth is no no-way connected to your service provider.

You can send info and stuff through Bluetooth, such as ringtones, pictures, sounds and business-cards(which are basically Contacts).

Some printers have bluetooth, so you can send your pictures directly to them and print them out.

My mate works in the carphone warehouse and they have the HP bluetooth printers on the counter to demo. I hid round the corner and started printing off pictures while he was with customers. Had one of a (male) nipple that he was trying to cover while talking to a customer. :D

    Hi,

"Notes" are not a standard part of the Bluetooth profile, that's why not all phones support them - mainly Nokias.

One piece of information, which is more universal, is a contact from your phonebook - most phones can exchange them via Blueooth without problems.

Try creating a new contact with a message as the name and sending that ;)

I think we've established "notes" of some description can be sent via bluetooth. But whats th epoint seeign as bluetooth has a 10m range, surely you could just talk to the person.

But maybe you don't want anyone else to hear you.

There is also a new type of pratical joke thing that came from bluetooth,
    called Bluejacking
It is were you can send people pictures, notes etc but they don't know
    who they are coming from.
