How To Open Port (Norton)

    Hi, when trying to play an online game, i need to be able to allow a connection through a particular port that the game server uses from its ip address.i use norton internet security 2004.any time i wanna play this game online, i have to shutdown norton internet security while im playing.this is not something i like doing.i have searched around for an answer which i am yet to find.thanks for the help.

    two things to try there, first is go into internet security, click on the firewall then configure, goto the programs tab and look to the panel at the bottom. you should see a list of programs that have rules setup to allow a program access to the net or to block it, check and see if the game is there, if it is make sure it's not set to block, change it to allow, if game is not there you can simply add it by clicking on the add button and searching for the games .exe file.

    if that does'nt help what you would need to do is to setup a rule for the firewall, done by again going to the firewall configuration screen and the going to the advanced tab and click on the general button. Here you can add a new rule and tell it what port you want open and specify the ip address and all that. hope that helps :)
