Ideas for at home work

    Hi everyone,

I have a serious question, serious in the sense that I am not implying things like stuffing envelopes or delivering flyers (leaflets)…

I am trying to come up with some idea for home-based businesses. Medical reasons make it almost impossible for me to work outside of the house, but I want to contribute to my family’s income, and somehow make our budget grow. I’m not greedy; I’d just like a little extra to help make it easier to make ends meet.

I’m very creative and have a deep love of writing, reading, research and many aspects of business. As well I love to cook and bake. I’m up for any serious ideas!

Thank-you in advance for your suggestions and help,

    Jessica

Hi, I would recommend copy writing, i.e., writing content for websites and such like. I know where I work, we've asked freelance people to do this in the past. All you need it a pc and a thesaurus!

Where do you work and how would one go about getting on your books for freelancing?

Hi - I work for an online booking engine where you can book hotel rooms online. In the past we've got people to write content on European destinations. I don't know if we are looking for any more at the moment though, but if you want to pm me with ur details, I'll let you know if we will in the future!

is there no coffee shop or place near your home that would sell cakes if you baked them?

I've been told that eBooks are a good source of income (don't know how true that is though)

So if there's anything that you would consider yourself really knowledgable about then put it into a PDF file and look around the web, you say you like to cook, so maybe a recipie book (it doesn't have to be a novella) just something simple and have a look online, I'm pretty sure there's sites that will sell it for you.

You may also want to set up a paypal account (free) so that you can sell it internationally, the best thing is that there's no shipping as it's all electronic :)

Hope that gives you some ideas

    Al

Do you speak a foreign language? a lot of companies hire people freelance for translation. I am thinking of mainly of the software industry because thats the industry that I work in but i am sure there are others.

This is a long shot but...

    You could play poker online!

Before you even attempt to play I suggest you find out everything about the game first, read books, work out odds etc. And before you start playing for any kind of high stakes, I suggest you learn the way the game is played by playing for free/low stakes.

If you know what you're doing, you will make money. It's not like gambling on horses or dogs or soccer matched, you make the odds yourself and you are in full control.

My brother and my friend are both professionals, they do it for a living and make good money.

You're your own boss, you can choose to play when it suits you, it's fun and very exciting.

If you opt for it, good luck :)
