Problem Accessing E-Mail with a PDA vial Eircom's ISP Service

    Hi All,

I'm seeking advice on a problem with accessing my e-mail via a
Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) - it's a Palm Tungsten T3.

The PDA connects with a Siemens S55 mobile via blutetooth.

Up to about 2 weeks ago the phone connection operated perfectly
    - the number dialled was the Eircom "free" service - 1892
150150. Then the calls failed to connect at all.

I' ve spent loads of useless hours trying to get an answer to this
problem - including ringing the eircom help (sic) line - but got
    nowhere.

The closest I've got to a solution followed calling into the
vodafone shop in Henry Street. An adviser gave some instructions
which seemed to make a bit of progress, but did not restore the
    connection.

The relevant correspondence is pasted below - hoping that might
    be of some help.

    Dear Keith,

    Thanks again for your help.

I followed your very clear instructions, and the connection gets
established. The palm PDA initialises vodafone, and it signs on.

However, when I attempt to access my e-mail accounts, I receive
the following message after a minute or two :

"timeout. failed to connect to mail.oceanfree.net"

I checked the settings, and the password and other settings are
    fine.

That is is a significant advance compared with what happens
when using my old connection - the number 1892150150 fails to
    respond at all.

When I attempt to connect to the net using the "Palm Webpro"
programme on the handheld, I get the message :

"No DNS servers were specified. Please check that your
network conections are correct, and try again (Comm. 9)"

Have you any further suggestions that will help finally overcome
these problems? Also, I'd be interested to know the reason my
former dialup connection with the Eircom 1892 number no
    longer operates.

    Regards,
