No It's not a wind up. Page 3 of the Irish Times yesterday had an article saying dep't of environment had pledged a million and a half to help local councils develop skateboarding and BMX trials(???) facilities. I contacted the the government press office to confirm if this was for all of Ireland or just the Dublin region as the article implies but alas it is for the whole country. Should be more like 10.5 million in that case but it's still damn good news.
Anyone with any submissions for design ideas for the Lucan or Bushy park projects send them to me at irishskateparkforum@yahoo.co.uk and I'll forward them on to the relevant councillors at our next meeting.

Does it really matter? So damn idiot will break an arm or ankle or something, and his damn parents will sue the park which, will increase the already over priced insurance parks have to pay and eventually force them to shut down. It happened to WoodWorks in Cork. And there was an article in the Irish Times and the Evening Echo in Cork that a new government funded indoor/outdoor combo park was to be built for Cork City 3 years ago. Where is it? Your guess is as good as mine. And the Independent and the Limerick Leader reported that an indoor/outdoor park was being built for Limerick City 2 years ago. And again, where is it? Well... Eh... IT DOESN'T EXIST. I hate being such a pessimist, but don't get your hopes up. I'd love to see it happen. And just remember, this is the same government that said, "Ireland is the telecommunications hub for Europe, and every home will have free access to broadband by the year 2000!" Christ I've become a cranky old man!
