    yo,

i have recently aquired a Sony Vaio PCV LX2 (desktop) but the motherboard is gone and i need a new one, i rang sony to see if they coould help me but they refused to give out any details unless i give them 30 quid to raise a support ticket.... but all i want to know is the motherboard model so i can buy it online

I had a look on the system and could not find anything on the board that looked like a serial/model number or anything like that.

Does anyone here know either where i can get the details for it or have the motherboard details handy????

    Thanks Muchly In Advance....

    SW.

you should be able to get the Motherboard details by looking up the Bios Id string on the net . The bios Id string is visible when you power on teh pc. if you press pause when it appears you can write it down and google it

If it's a standard from factor you do not necessarily need to replace it with the same board.

Have you tried a diiferent screen?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,146 ✭✭✭SoundWave

nope because it has a crappy sony flatscreen that takes power and signal over the one cable... and the video card is directly on the board... and i also tried with a PCI vid card and still nothing... also prob because the board is fecked

i tried ringin sony again but they wont give out any details unless i pay them 20 quid for the support.... pfft
