    Hey,
Im playing classical piano since I was six, Im twenty now.Currently doing a music degree. Not essentially looking for a jam, looking for anyone intersted in doing a wedding band. If you already have a band be it rock, funk, indie and have the songs and need a keyboard player, excellent, I can pick most stuff up instantly, have a good ear.

Interested in alot, playing Ben folds, killers, strokes and Tori Amos mainly when Im messing about.

PM me if you have any intersting projects or ideas.Ive got a car. Dont have a stage piano yet though.Still saving!

Have you any songs? Are they finished? Are you looking to start a band to write with from the start? What type of style you looking for?

I've written a lot of stuff; my last band just imploded. The style I'm going for would be I suppose rock&roll/blues but I dont want to start a band with a view to being set into one style... I wanna play around and see what happens. I think it would be more fun than a wedding band (but not as lucrative, initially anyway!).

Would you enjoy doing original stuff or do you just wanna do covers?

God no! I was suggesting a cover band, because its a sweet, sweet way of making money. Your on the right track though...sorry about the implosion of your ex band. Where abouts are you, and could I also ask how old you are?

Im pretty adaptable once the musics there and the general jist is laid out.

    Hi Pewee,

I'm a keyboard player myself, and pretty much make a full time living from it, playing the likes of weddings etc. I may be able to offer you some help, and will definitely be able to get you some gigs if you want them.

There is a massive shortage of good keyboard players in Ireland, so if making money is your aim you will have no problem as long as long as you can play. I turn down more work than I play cos I'm too busy, and I always have trouble finding a good keyboard player to stand in for me for the gigs I can't do.

Great that you have a car, that's a massive plus. Regarding saving for a keyboard, if I were you I'd consider not just a stage piano but something with a full range of sounds, a synth of some description. On any given night I could be playing piano, rhodes, hammond, strings, brass etc. Many of the wedding type songs you will be playing require more than just piano.

Also, try to learn to play bass with your left hand. That will double the amount of work available to you, particularly in the wedding scene. Having good sounds, particularly a bass sound is critical here. I use a Yamaha Motif 7 synth, which has excellent bass, piano, rhodes etc, all the sounds I use the most. I have a stage piano too that I sometimes MIDI to the Motif and play the Motif's sounds with the weighted keys.

I won't babble on too long, but glad to hear of another keyboard player potentially coming into the scene. Feel free to PM me for more info on the above.

    Robbie

    Thanks for that!

Im working with a bassist at the moment purely just developing my left hand, Im used to just playing chords and the main melody in the right.

If you ever have any word of work going, or even just something simple to get me in the flow of things that would be great.
All that information was excellent. I need to know these things, I know it can be fairly straightforward once your in the flow of things. Im building up a repetoire, need help deciding what to learn, etc. I suppose that will come when I start work with a band. Thanks a million, your post has really got me thinking Robbie.

    Cheers for replying!

Well there's always work going, you just tell me when you have your keyboard and when you think you are ready. There's a female fronted rock covers band that are desperately looking for a full time keyboard player now for example. I've stood in with them a good few times, but they need someone permanent. The type of songs were stuff like No Doubt, Bon Jovi, Gn'R, Pink etc. Pretty easy most of it, but a few tricky enough keyboard led songs, like Video Killed The Radio Star by the Buggles.

Sure drop me a line when you're up to speed and ready to go.

hi - myself and a few friends are putting together a covers band at the moment to make some cash. We're all into writing and recording our own stuff individually, but none of us are making our fortune at that as of yet.
The singer is a girl who's a singing teacher, the drummer and bass player are guys and both excellent musicians and I'm on guitar. We're playing covers of eighties pop classics (the idea is to put on an 'eighties show') so we are looking for a versatile keyboard player but you would have to have your own equipment with a wide range of sounds. Our goal for the first six months would be to get as far as doing some midnight at the olympia gigs and obviously the real money will be made in the run up to christmas. Initially the work won't be as steady or as profitable as wedding stuff but if things go well we should make more over the course of the year and it'll be a lot more fun. We're all easy to get along with and easy to work with but we've also got a professional attitude and the bottom line is the cash. If you're interested email me at arcadia_909@yahoo.co.uk

    hi

as my name suggests this is what i would like to be playing but unfortunately, not playing...any how we are playing covers of the funk, disco, pop type (james brown, stevie w, jamiroquai, 70's disco) generally the sh*t that will get the fairer sex up to dance! however i am trying to get a twist - live decks for sampling and also percussion (in the pipeline.) i play drums (competently!) roland td9-kx, have good bass player and guitarist. badly need a singer too. NO EGO'S - this is purely to enjoy and make some cash! we jam near the red cow. let me know if your interested.

    cheers
