Install DVD writer

    I am about to install a dvd writer i just got and am wondering about the best way to put it into the pc,

    should it be on a seperate IDE cable to the hard disk i will be copying off or on the same or whats the difference???? :confused::confused:

    My HD packed in and I had to set it up as a slave on the dvdrw IDE. It was very slow, reading below 2x, used to be about 8x. Set the dodgy HD as a slave on the main IDE but it was still very slow, probably trying to write to the slave while running the main HD too
