Firefox - my two gripes

    1) It keeps losing my bookmarks. Fair enough, I learned after the first time it lost them that I should back them up. Is there any other solution than having to tediously copy the bookmarks file every time I add a new bookmark?

    2) When I start a download, the whole PC freezes for about 10 seconds while it opens the built in download manager. When the download completes it freezes again for about 2 to 3 seconds. Is this normal? Is there a way around it?

I have the latest version of Firefox, XP home and an average spec laptop.

    Thanks!

    Robbie

    Hi
    1) See MozillaZine Here
    For the Bookmarks issue.
The Backup bookmarks extension is v useful.
There are loads of FF extensions here

    2) Download freezing issue, maybe someone else can help.

I have Firefox & Thunderbird on MAC and PC (XP/2K/98), so far had no issues and would never go back to IE/Outlook.
    Cheers
    E.

    2) Sounds odd. Don't have this problem. Is your machine low on diskspace/memory?

You can install other kinds of downloaders via extensions. See here...

It might be taking so long because of the long list of downloaded files listed in the download manager window. This might help:

Go to Tools - Options - Privacy - Download Manager History - Chose either of the options except manually

Bingo! That has completely sorted it, after clearing the history downloads are starting and completing instantly.

    Thank you so much guys!

Hmm never had any probs with firefox, nothing major.
Only thing i notice is sometimes, if i click a link ona page then go back it does not bring me to the part i was looking at, it brings me to the top of the page. Thats only sometimes.

I miss from IE the "autoinline complete" Function. You know when you type an address it brings it up from the list automatically (i dont mean the drop down list!!!)

I hated that feature of IE, it bugs the crap out of me. I find the drop down list is enough.

Never really had any issues with Firefox, certainly not in the more recent releases anyway.

It does ?? . How do you enable it ??
In epiphany for example, if i have loads of tabs open, and then the power goes, when i load up again, it restores all the tabs, does firefox behave the same way, I have the latest version I think , and I cant see how to use that feature.
