Right, me old printer has suffered mechanical failure, and the printing unit no longer moves along as it should. So i need a new printer.

Whats recommended at the moment, and what has cheap refills. I was looking at an Epson R200, but that has seperate ink cartridges for each colour, and i'm not sure how good value that'd work out to be in the long run.

r200/r300 are excellent for photos. the r200 and r300 are the same printer, just the r300 has the memory card readers and better options for positioning on page.

Inks are 17.99 each, and work out about the same as the likes of HP. Its unlikely they'll all go at once...so its like 17.99 every 2/3weeks as opposed to 45 every month. the 6 seperate colours make it better able to pin point exact colours when printing photos.

The HP 7762 is good too, and in the same price range as r300. Don't touch lexmark.

Do you really need colour? A laser B&W is a lot more economical in the long run.

so i'm told. a friend of mine has one, and he swears by it. But yes, i do need colour. Its a family printer, and as such is used for projects and stuff like that, and they need colour for that. Of course, i could always get two printers... :p

I was looking at the R200, cos i've seen cheap refills on blankdiscshop.co.uk, and i was going to use those. About £2.50 per cartridge for one brand, and £4.50 for another brand of refill. Much cheaper than the origionals. Only thing is i don't know much about the cheaper brand of refills.
