Well i think Dr. Richard Duke is just covering the fact that it took him a year. Its presented as a basic pattern puzzle and if you see the pattern faster i would imagine you would be more intelligent than if you cant find it at all.... Am i the only one that would see it that way?

If there's a dot in the center of a die, consider that a flower.... count the number of dots (petals) around that center dot.

However, if there's no dots in the center of the die, disregard all other dots in that die.

Basically: if there's a dot in the center of the die, count the dots outside it. If there's no dots, disregard the die completely!
