Have you ever had people throw rocks at your car when driving on a busy road? Im a learner driver, i've only been on the road about a year so I dont have that much experience but I was driving up to the Square earlier and when I was on the Firhouse road when some bunch of scumbags threw a fist load of pebbles out on to the road at the cars from the side of the road. It frightned the crap out of me and the cars around me. The car infront of me jamed on and luckily I slowed down enough and in good enough time that I didnt smash into him. After I called the police I went on my way very cautiously. I've heard them talking about this kind of idiotic behaviour before on the Adrian Kenedy phone show and these people are not kids. I was actually scared sh1tless on the way home and im certainly not ever driving up the firhouse road ever again. Has this ever happened to anyone else?

Bit harsh tarring all pedestrians with the same brush as some badly behaved kids. Try taking photos to freak them out next time.

Yup had a rock (half a brick) thrown at the car before, just missed the windscreen and put a huge dent just beneath it. In fact kids used to do this a lot more around Dublin years ago. Used to be a popular hobby in my secondary school to "brick" things. Especially trains. Less common these days thankfully.

Why is this thread called "Arrogant Pedestrians" rather than "Arrogant stone-throwing scumbags"? Your post doesn't give any reason why they are pedestrians at all, just that they obviously aren't in your car when they're throwing pebbles at you.

I'm a pedestrian and can safely say i've never thrown anything at a car; however a motorcycle did break a red light by Holles street when I was 8 months pregnant and nearly ran me over. That doesn't mean I hate all motorcyclists. I'm sorry those scumholes threw stones at your car but please don't blame all of us.

In America there have been cases where people dropped vats of acid off overpasses.

    I'm not a Pedestrian, I'm a Catholic.

Sorry, I didnt mean to catagarise pedestrians in with these scumbags. My hand was actually still shaking last night when I was typing it and I wasnt exactly thinking straight. I heard somewhere that the reason there is a caged roof on the pedestrian bridges crossing the tallaght bypass is because somone lobed a cavity block off the bridge which instantly killed some poor innocent truck driver.

    You're not funny either.

I agree with the idea of taking a photo of them to freak them out, although I'm sure I'm one of very few people who generally has a camera on them most of the time...

You could pretend to do it with a mobile - from a distance, they won't be able to see if it's a camera phone or not.

There seems to be a trend of this business of dropping breeze-blocks off motorway overpasses in Holland at the moment - three cases in the last few weeks. What the hell do they do when that gets boring?

I don't know if that's such a good idae. Stopping to take a picture may just invite these scumbags to do more damage to your car, or you yourself. I for one wouldn't stop. Though, if were driving a big 4x4 I might consider mounting the pavement for a little retribution, Carmageddan style.

You should go to jail for a very, very long time for doing something like dropping breezeblocks off bridges onto cars. And vats of acid! ****ing hell.......it's astounding the depths these scumbags manage to plumb.

this happens a lot in tallaght, especially on the 77 route,, sometimes it's soo bad that it would take a different route causing people to have to walk further!!!! they're little ****ers.. i'd ****in run them over if i could

What about the arrogant cyclist (far fewer). Had a cyclist shout abuse at me because I didn't cut him off turning a corner when he was coming up on my inside at a set of lights. Here I was thinking I was doing the right thing by not running him over  .

How would those kids feel if their own family were killed or injured by some scum throwing stones? Maybe we should reintroduce public stonings (sp?) for crimes like these.

I remember we had morons in schoold who did this to trains, one guy, after smashing the drivers cab window legged it. We told him that the driver lost control and crashed the train and he believed us. He spent the rest of the day crying thinking he had caused a train to derail. Fag
