Hi. I just ordered Sky+ directly from sky. Seeing that I already have Multiroom, having Sky+ for E199 was a good deal. After reading many posts on digitalspy I am afraid now that I will get the dreaded Amstrad box!! Is this box that bad or just because it is a forum it's going to be all negative problems? I'm kinda getting worried now about the prospect of the installer coming with an Amstrad. Are you not able to choose what box you want, afterall I am paying for it. It's like going into a shop to buy a SONY television and coming home to open the box to find a BUSH or ALBA!! You know what I mean :(

Im afraid at the moment all that Sky are using is the Pace box, and full of troubles too they are. Im afraid you do not have choice of which manufactured product you are given, it's something similar to a lucky bag...what you see is what you get!!

thanks BigPaddy. I had no idea that the Pace gives trouble. My main sub is a Pace and it is much better & faster than my multiroom box which is a grundig.

Are you getting a second multiroom sub aswell. I have ordered SKY + and already have multiroom but could only get the 199 euro offer if I got a second multuroom sub, so thats three in total. (I do know that technically I can cancel the first multiroom sub as I have that one for over a year).

I've had my Pace Sky+ box a few months now and no problems with it... it's noticeably slower than my standard Panasonic DB-40 though which is a bit disappointing..

I already had the multiroom before I ordered Sky+. Just had to pay E199. They said that I get the Sky+ box and just insert the main card or sub into it.

But they will have to bring down another length of sat cable from the quad LNB to where the Sky + box will be, as the Sky + box needs two inputs from the dish.

TBH, I don't think any Sky+ box is free from issues. Only 3 are being made, Amstrad, Thomson, and Pace. AFAIK, only Pace are distributed in Ireland, which is probably a good thing as I'd still probably opt for the Pace over the others. It saddens me that Panasonic and Sky went their different ways, as Im sure a Panny Sky+ would've been good :) Amstrad boxes were never available in Rep of Ireland, thankfully (not sure about NI).
