Hope this is the right forum.

Got a new PC a few weeks ago and I see there is a fax utility installed. Now this programme is obviously installed for the purpose of sending and receiving faxes. Can I use this as I have just a single telephone line and how will affect the telephone if I enable it?

I cant get the "read me" file to open. The fax programme is BVRP

Windows Xp has the ability to send and recieve Faxes. It is not installed by default but can be added under communications in add remove windows componet tab under add remove programs in the control panel.

When that is done to send a fax all you have to do is select print on the document you wish to send and select fax option instead of whatever printer you have, It's that simple. You can configure it to recieve faxes automatically or manually as well and you only need the one phoneline.

Superfax works the same way, BVRP may too but I have nerver used it though I have seen it bundled with modems , I find The XP fax facility more than adequet and simple to use assuming your OS is XP..

    thanks muppet.

I didn't know that XP had that facility.

Receiving faxes would be my primary concern so I will get one of my friends lined up with a few sheets to send to me

Will give it a go in the next day or two and post the results
