Radeon 9800 Pro - big problem

I'm having a massive problem with my 9800 pro (256 mb) at the moment.

when I boot into XP I get a blank screen. A few days ago the screen started to look strange and garbled, like this:

    Untitled-1%20copy.jpg

but now it won't even display anything when I boot in. I can run in VGA and safe mode but i can't change the resolution or the card will draw a blank. I've reinstalled DirectX (9.0c) and the ATI drivers (CATALYST 5.2, 8.1 display driver) but nothing has worked. Any ideas?

i got lines down my screen with a saphire 9700pro
    for a week
    it was the core dying.
i had it bios flashed and overclocked and cooled with a pelt though and it was my first venture dealing with overclocking and bios editing,
    ie- i tortured it
if you have just every day use then that looks like bad form
    still in warranty?
if not the only thing i reccomend is this
back up the bios of the card to a floppy
use radedit to change the core and mem frequecies (reduce them) also relax the mem timings as well.
flash the card with this new bios and see if it helps - it may not run doom3 anymore but its not the worst case scenario either
on second thoughts make sure the card is getting enough power aswell.
what is your system setup and what watt psu do you use, and what make is it.
    regards
    jasper

I had this problem as well, used to work for a few days then go again.

    what worked for me was:
    uninstall the ATI Drivers
    boot into safe mode
delete all files and folders related to the drivers (all files with ati in the name, even in the windows folder) - be very careful with this.
get the latest drivers from ati and install them.
    and finally:
turn off the pc, remove and reseat the gfx card.

just try reseating the gfx card first and see if that fixes it.
