Phone Line "lost" using UTV BB

I am not sure if this is the right forum, but please move it if not.

Anyway I came back yesterday to discover that my landline phone wasn't working. The line is also used for UTV BB, courtesy of a splitter supplied by UTV. Oddly the BB is still working as you can see :p .
I have abandoned all hope of getting through to their tech Support, having been on hold for nearly 25 minutes .

Before anyone states the obvious here's what I have checked already.

    - Paid my bill :p
    - Replaced cable with one I know works
    - Plugged my phone directly into the Eircom wall socket
    - Tried a second phone.

So I was wondering if anyone had come across a problem like this ? I understand the basic concept of ADSL but I am baffled by this. How is it that I can use BB but can't get the phone to work.

I've found the answer to this. It took 1.5 hours of waiting for UTV tech support and Eircom.

There are two signals coming in on the cable ;BB is digital and the phone line is analogue. So it is possible to have one without the other. What happens here if the phone has gone is that you report it to whoever you pay line rental to, in this case Eircom, and they are obliged to fix the fault. The fault reported I expected a long wait to get it done , but surprisingly the phone was back on this evening. Maybe this will be of use to anyone running into the same problem.

I got the impression from Eircom that there a lot of faults reported on Monday . No surprise there really.
