Thinking about investing in a laptop for myself and I've found two very nice laptops in PC world. Bit of advise needed however,

    COMPAQ R3460

Intel Pentium 4 HTT Processor 3.20 GHz
    800 MHz FSB
    512 Kb Cache
    512 Mb RAM
    80 Gb Hard Drive
    DVD RW Multi Drive
    15.4" Widescreen TFT Display
    Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
128 Mb ATi Mobility Radeon Graphics

    PACKARD BELL H5535

    Intel Pentium 4 Processor 538 3.20 GHz
    533 MHz FSB
    1 Mb cache
    512 Mb RAM
    80 Gb Hard Drive
    DVD ReWriter Multi Drive
    15.1" TFT display
    Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
128 Mb nVidia GeForce FX5100 Graphics

I'm leaning towards the Packard because of the dedicated gfx card. But I hear compaq have a better reputation.... help?

    go to http://www.dell.ie/do
    choose express shopping
    change to inspiron
    sort by the price column
    buy a 510 with 512MB RAM
Upgrade to 3 years collect and return
should get one for about 1000 yo yos including vat, shipping and warranty.

Hard to tell - no prices and you don't indicate what you would use them for.
and it's not an investment , it will loose about half it's value in the next 18 months..

for word processing only, a 10 year old laptop you get for €100 would do fine, cos you just can't type that fast.

if you want a games machine that's a different story.

the compaq has an 800MH fsb and packard bell have always charged a premium and tend to be aimed at home users, compaq business machines have a good reputation but that isn't a business machine

Have a trawl through the forums , PC world don't have a great reputation for aftersales service...

Both machines are around the 1400 euro range, including VAT.

If you buy from PC world, don't let them sucker you into buying their insurance or any other aftersales ****e.
