Wonder if anybody could help me, when I shut my computer down it used to just switch off after completing all the shutdown procedures. But now it says "Its now safe to turn your computer off" and I have to hit the power button. Which is a bit of a pain when your in bed watching a dvd and have to get up to switch the thing off. Anybody now how to make it go back to the good old days?

    Im running XP SP2.

    Cheers

    Chris

Check the settings in bios under Power management. Maybe something there?*

*and yes, this is a copy&paste job from the exact same question, found using google.

    Hi,

Sorry for jumping in here but I don't think my question is worth a new thread. :D

    Thanx in advance.

How do I get into the Bios settings on my PC to change my LPT port to the EPP settings ?

do a search - it's been posted many times
depends on brand of the PC/BIOS
some used windows utilities , some used special boot disks (very old IBM/Compaq)

    during a cold boot press
    - del ( NB. not the "Dell" logo on the monitor  )
    - ctrl alt f1
    - ctrl alt esc
    - F2
    - Fn F2
    - Keep a key pressed in till you get a key stuck and press XXXX to enter setup

there are others , RTFM , STFW, post the Brand and model or check on the paranormal forum :D
