Intermittant NTL Digital Channel Blackouts??

Anyone getting channel blackouts over the last few days. Both my boxes, a di300 which is running v5.40 and a new DC220 running a5.41 affected. A channel will go blank. Changing to another channel will be fine and then the old channel will be fine after about 30 seconds. Happens every few minutes for a half an hour or so and will then be totally fine for a few hours and then another hour of intermittant individual channel blackouts etc.

These aren't like channel lockups btw where a channel will freeze and breakup etc. Anyone else experiencing this? Brother told me that this morning the analogue feed was going at the same as the blackouts though I didn't notice this with the digital channel blackouts over the last day or so.

I wonder is this a problem with the new firmware, the updating of the firmware or with the network in Bray atm. I don't suppose anyone experienced this when their area was being upgraded for 2way cable broadband!! :D

I'm in Bray too, and during the daytime, occasional short blackouts are fairly common, and were there before the s/w upgrade. I'm not experiencing any real problems during the evening though.

In general too, I notice considerable problems on some of the less popular channels late at night. Discovery Wings is a typical case ... absolutely unwatchable after about 11pm.

yep, happens to me all the time. about 10 of our channels just go blank or look like a skipping dvd. used to happen for short time initially but now we can miss channels for days. NTL guy was round this morning and said its cos our feed was coming in via a splitter junction from next doors cable. gonna fix it for us free of charge thank fook.

i'm also in Bray and the analogue signal has been cutting out intermittently for the last couple of days - problem there somewhere, time to ring NTL i think.

In terenure, have had that for the last 2+ years since getting digital.. ntl humour me every now and then by sending out an engineer who just says the signals are good or "better than normal".. on my 3rd box, and still no difference.

does anyone reckon these black outs are caused by them upgrading their network for cable broadband?

Nope, I think that the network is just dodgy tongue.gif
Same problem happened to me a year or two back when I ventured down the ntl route, and I'm still told my ROAD (not area, road) is unavailable for cable broadband rolleyes.gif
