Im looking for a Sempron based board, something around €70. I know thats not alot but im not looking for top of the range at the moment.

Can anyone recommend a good board. Thanks

Is it possible to get a board that supports both the Sempron and AMD 64, for upgrading in the future?

To answer your second question, I seen a motherboard in Maplin that had both Socket 754 and 939 on it. Can't remember exactly how much it was, but it was over €150 anyway.

Thanks Azza. Im looking to upgrade my old Gateway system (3 years old) with a new motherboard, cpu, graphics,hd. Not looking for cutting edge, but hoping to get a bit of firepower for €400.

If anyone one has any recommendations please post. Thanks

    MSI 865PE NEO2-V Mainboard S478/800mhz I865PE,SATA, ATX, LAN, Dual DDR400
    Intel Pentium 4 3.0 GHz Boxed PC800 Socket PGA478, 1MB cache, Prescott
    Sapphire Radeon 9600XT Atlantis 128MB DD AGP,ATI9600XT,DVI-I,TV-Out, Lite-Retail
    Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 80GB S-ATA 8MB cache 7200RPM NCQ

    451 delivered from Komplett.ie

I wouldn't go with anything less tbh...

Spend the extra 51euro now and not have to upgrade in 6 months time...

U could probably skimp down a bit more on the graphics card if u weren't gonna play games on it..thats a fairly decent card in it there..

    thanks for that jammer.

How do I know if i need a new power supply? I think the one in the computer is 200W. The computer (Gateway) is a few years old so I cant find any detailed spec on this computer on the net.

200W wouldn't do a new system..the hard drives, gfx cards and processors require more power!

    you'd be looking at 350W +

    Stay away from Q-Tec!!!!!!!!!!!

I've used Antec and Forton, they're fine.

    Something like this...http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=301417&cks=PLS
