Sorry to hi-jack this thread, but I've a Vodafone number and am on O2, I want to change back to Vodafone because of their 3g capabilities, can I keep the same 087 number?

You need to go to a Vodafone store and say you want to do a "sim resume". You'll get to keep your 087 number.

I work for Vodafone, and the short answer is that you can. Its called "porting", and you don't have to have topped up by a certain amount. You go to your nearest Vodafone agent, tell them you want to port onto Vodafone. They will give you a new sim with your 086 number on it. The process will cost you €12, but on the new sim there will be 2 euro preloaded credit, and when you register your details with Vodafone you will recieve a further €10 euro, so you will recoup the cost of the port. In addition, if your phone is network locked to O2, you may need to call O2 and get your NAC code, which will unlock your phone and allow it to be used on any network worldwide. With Vodafone, you have to have topped up by €127 excluding registration credit before you can get your NAC. With Meteor, I think it is almost twice that figure, but I am not sure about the pre-required spend on O2. If you are a Pay Monthly/Bill customer, this shouldn't apply, but naturally if you are committed to a contract with O2 as a bill pay customer you may have to honour that contract or pay a penalty if you want to opt out.

Also, 3G with Vodafone is not currently available to Ready To Go customers. You must be on a Pay Monthly option to avail of 3G.

I think she meant you need to have topped up by €127 to get your phone unlocked by Vodafone for use on any network.

To actually port your number is free (€12 but thats rebated).

What he said. the 127 is to get your NAC. the 12 euro is just the porting charge.
