    Hi

Going to Frankfurt on thursday for a long weekend. Staying in the main hotel district near the train station.
Can anyone recommend a decent pub that's good & lively,German one might be nice to get to meet some locals & sample the flavour of the place.

Also,i've heard the food is based on a lot of meat/salami dishes etc. I always try to try the local cuisine so any suggestions what to try out (nothing with offal though - the very thought makes me quesy)

    Thanks!

You mean the red-light district :D

Halbes Henchon is something you'll see a lot of over there - basicly a half chicken although not too much of a delicacy I suppose. There is a lot of Kebab places over in Germany and they're quite a bit different to the ones you get in Ireland/England so possibly worth trying. Also the Turk Pizzas usually found in the same establishments.

I'm not too well up on my Frankfurt pubs but there is one main area called Sacsenhausen (spelling?) which has a lot of pubs centralised in the one area which is worth checking out. Possibly a bit Temple-Bar'ish definitely worth checking out. That should be across the river from where you're staying - should be easy enough to find though.

There's also a kind of old-town area of the city but I'm not sure if there's pubs near it - if there is then they'll probably be German styled like you're after ;)

Main shopping street is Zeil and give U60311 a try if you're looking for a nightclub.

go look for the old part of town, or Altstadt as its called i think and theres heaps of food and bars around those areas.

Mmmm yes, well i didn't want to say it was the red light district, but hey, thanks you've done it for me now :D

Great ,thanks for all that info. Saschehausen is over the river, definately check it out. I heard the Zeil was kinda expensive but window shopping is free! Will suss out the club & old town also.

Oh I love kebabs & you can never go wrong with chicken.

    Just checked the weather forecast,snowing-yipee.

    Thanks guys!
