Hearing Protection

Just wondering what hearing protection (if any) people use when they're gigging/practicing/making lots of musical noise.

I don't use any at the moment and my ears have been getting sorer and my hearing is getting worse so I'm kinda looking at getting something, even if it's only the foam plugs.

We used to use cotton wool when we used to jam (not in a band anymore).. and we were loud.. or, rather our drummer was..

Seemed to do the trick, but I believe cotton wool is not advised as it can leave fibres behind or something..

    K.

These things are great - used them for shooting before.

Aye, that's why I started this thread. Not to debate why head protection is good but which hearing protection is good.

I've been using foam plugs (which you can get in any pharmacy) for the last couple of years. They're good, but I'm just a bit sick of everything sounding so dull. Just waiting on my fitted plugs from Frank Cass & Son. When I get them I'll give a full report!

I used to use the foam ones from the pharmacy too. But I hated the muffled sound and I go to enough gigs and play enough loud music so I decided to get the Musicians Ear Plugs from Frank Cass.

I went and got the molding done and got the filters with 15db of attentuation and needless to say there class. Its like everything is turned down when loud and you can hear people talk too. It takes a while to get used to the feeling of being in a box. But they are well worth the money in my opinion. I need my ears they are the tools of my trade :p

How much do the moulded ones cost? I've already hurt my ear drums a couple of times by just switching on my amp or hitting a certain spot on the wah. Ouch.

190 yoyo. You reall should protect your hearing. there is no need to damage them :)

I know, that why I started this thread. Must go and pick up some of the foams one, even if it's just for jamming with a drummer, loud things they are.

    Especially that chick one ;)
