I only heard about boards.ie last summer, and since then, ive seen the mods names, such as devore, could, and vexorg, and their names pissed me off cos i knew i recognised them from somewhere and couldnt place them.

Back around '98, when i was in 1st year in school, i started playing quake online after managing to find quake.ie and emailed someone about how to start, when i was introduced to IRC and and the quake channel. A short while after, i just gave up, after realising no difference was made to gameplay after i upgraded my 33.6k modem to a 56k. But now i realise where boards.ie came from. But does anyone remember anyone from back then called Abductee?

ah ye see in those days, connecting thru a local exchange that wasn't in dublin meant lag hell. if u were outside dublin, you had to ring dublin and run up an almighty bill but it was playable that way ... unless you had one of those "winmodems" :)
