Folks, any recommendations for a firearms dealer who could give a good valuation for WW1 era firearms?

you could try the bluebook of gun values.Think it is the same website address as the title.
just curious, what is it civvie or military handgun or long arm?

Nope forget that!Forgot the blue book is only in a print format[but worth buying all the same].

I have access to a number of antique/collectable/militaria catalogues in work so if you want to give me a description of the item i might be able to give you some sort of idea. Its worth bearing in mind that despite thier age, world war 1 weapons are usually not terribly valuable for example a near-perfect vickers machine gun with gun carriage and ammunition belts is worth at the most about e800!

Where can I get one of those?

There are a number of specialist arms and militaria fairs in England where you can buy de-commisioned weapons of various vintages and price ranges, any militaria fairs i've attended in this country havnt featured firearms at all so there's probably an export/licensing issue over here..typical.
